10 years ago when I first became interested in my personal growth, spirituality and self development I went searching for inspiration. The first tool I came across is books of daily readings.

There are a number of these books by various authors, I’ll list my favorites below.

Daily readings significantly assisted my journey. They provide an easy, accessible, quick way to get a dose of inspiration or self reflection in each morning.

If you don’t have much time in your day for yourself, daily readings might be a good place to start. I made it a ritual at the end of each year to buy myself a new one for the following year. It was a self loving gift I gave myself.

Then your daily self loving ritual becomes opening your book to the date that day and taking 5 minutes to read and reflect.

Here are my three favorites:

Summary from Amazon:

Journey to the Heart by New York Times bestselling author of Codependent No More, Beyond Codependency, and Lessons of Love, contains 365 insightful daily meditations that inspire readers to unlock their personal creativity and discover their divine purposes in life.

“Melody Beattie gives you the tools to discover the magnificence and splendor of your being.” –Deepak Chopra, author of Jesus and Buddha

Called one of the finest spiritual guides of our time, Nepo explores what it means to become our truest self as we face life’s challenges—as well as its joys. Navigating some of the soul’s deepest, most ancient questions, he asks: How do we stay vital and buoyant amid the storms of life? What is the secret to coming alive? The soul’s journey is inevitable, and no matter where we go we can’t escape this foundational truth: What’s in the way is the way. As Nepo writes, “The point of experience is not to escape life but to live it.”

Featured on Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday program, and a key presenter in Oprah’s nationwide The Life You Want Weekend Tour, Nepo inspires each of us to discover who we were born to be. Like his bestselling The Book of Awakening, The Endless Practice is filled with insights and stories, guidance and practice that will bring you closer to living life to the fullest.

Summary from Amazon

Philosopher-poet and cancer survivor Mark Nepo opens a new season of freedom and joy—an escape from deadening, asleep-at-the wheel sameness—that is both profound and clarifying.

His spiritual daybook is a summons to reclaim aliveness, liberate the self, take each day one at a time, and savor the beauty offered by life's unfolding. Reading his poetic prose is like being given second sight, exposing the reader to life's multiple dimensions, each one drawn with awe and affection.

The Book of Awakening is the result of Nepo’s journey of the soul and will inspire others to embark on their own. He speaks of spirit and friendship, urging readers to stay vital and in love with this life, no matter the hardships. Encompassing many traditions and voices, Nepo's words offer insight on pain, wonder, and love. Each entry is accompanied by an exercise that will surprise and delight the reader in its mind-waking ability.

Years into my own personal growth journey, having been inspired by these daily readings and grown tremendously, I created a book of journal prompts that reflect the areas of growth that were most helpful to me.

If you want to take your morning inspiration in an introspective direction Unfolding is for you.

Unfolding provides you with questions that you can journal on or just think about to help you reconnect to who you are; your wants, needs, drives and so much more.

The unique aspect of Unfolding is there are also URL links in there that lead you to 10 guided, audio meditations. These meditations center on themes within the journal and help you take your introspection and inner peace goals one step further.
